Reflect on your experiences with essay writing. What aspects of writing essays do you find most engaging or challenging? Discuss your personal strengths as a writer as well as specific areas where you experience difficulty or would like to improve. Support your reflection with clear examples from your own writing experiences.

Prompt: I think while essay writing I am strong at writing the body of the essay. Once I have started writing I am able to keep going and continue the essay with no issues. That is one of my biggest strengths. The one problem that I have is actually starting the essay. I struggle finding the words that I can best use to describe my argument on a certain topic. I think that working on improving my skills on starting an essay will improve my overall essay and how it sounds.  Summary: Today we worked on a chart for our essay Reflection: Learning what you need to improve on is something that is super important. Doing this can help you gain a better understanding of what could be weighing you down on grades or overall how your essay sounds. It is also important to understand everything that you are good at and improve those as well.

After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Prompt: I learned that I have a good way of designing my posters and slides. I learned that I am able to make my visual elements look good. The thing that I struggle with the most is making sure that my lines were strong and were able to convey the message that I was trying to deliver. From the responses that I got I realized that I should work harder on  the language that I use and less on the design. It is important to have a balance between both.  Summary: Today we viewed our presentations.  Reflection: When looking at other people's posters I was able to realize some of the experiences that people have gone through and how they were able to overcome them. This can help me better understand that person and how their life experiences make them who they are today.

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt: I think the hardest part about doing the worksheet was being able to take the ideas and experiences that I had and turn them into similes and metaphors. It was difficult expressing the feelings and ideas I had in simplistic words that followed the rules of similes and metaphors. I think that the hardest topic was the fitting in section. It was hard to express how people have forced me to fit in while still following the rules and still making it sound good. Next time I think I will try and work with simpler ideas.  Summary: Today we started on a 1 pager.  Reflection: There will always be something in writing that challenges you. When you find what that thing is, it is important to understand how to fully use it, so you can make sure that you use it correctly. It is important to do this so that the writing you produce can be better!

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt: While reflecting on myself to help write these poems I learned more about how the words and thoughts about myself and the words from other people effect me. Doing this I was able to remember the things that built me up to who I am today. This also showed me all of the hard things that I had to face in life that took a toll on me. This experience to learn more about myself allowed me to realize that even though I went through hardship in life, I was able to grow stronger and move on.  Summary: Today we started writing out similes and metaphors.  Reflection: While reflecting on yourself you are able to understand all of the things that you go through in life. This shows that you are stronger than you think, there are constantly things going on in life that make it harder. But if you are able to pass them it shows growth.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt: The break was extremely refreshing for me. During the week before the break I was extremely stressed, I had a bunch of school work to finish, while also balancing a job on top of that. It was all extremely stressful. So once the break happened I was able to do nothing and relax after having so much to do. At the same time I was able to focus more on my job and earn money for myself. Even though working is tiring I overall felt extremely refreshed after the week off.  Summary: Today we read a poem.  Reflection: I think that it is important to take breaks in life. If you are constantly doing something, you will eventually work yourself out and then not be able to do anything at all. If you make sure to take breaks your task will take longer, but you will eventually get it done!

If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

Prompt: I think the three things that would describe my love is a song, a baked dish, and just showing I care for a person. I chose these things because I am a huge song loving person and I care for the music I listen to. So showing people music I love is my form of showing love. I also like to bake, and baking something for someone is another way I can show my love. Finally I love just telling people how much I care about them and just explain that they are important to me. Those ways are the best ways for me to explain how much I care for a person in my life.  Summary: Today we wrote a poem.  Reflection: Having a way to show other people that you care about them is important because it can show to the person that the relationship you have with them is worth keeping. It is also important to just show how much people mean to you through ways that are the best for you.

Consider your experience reading The Color Purple (a fictional novel), Fences (a play/drama), and Wild (a nonfiction memoir). Which type of longer text did you enjoy the most, the novel, the play, or the memoir, and which did you find the most challenging? Explain your preference, describe what made that type of text more engaging or accessible for you, and reflect on how understanding your preference might influence how you approach future readings.

Prompt: I think I enjoyed Wild the most because of the way it was written I was able to to understand the story. Plus knowing that the story that was written was based on a real experience that someone had helped me connect to her experience even more. This was because I have done something similar to what she did over the summer of 2025. The most challenging book was probably the color purple. I didn't like the formatting of the book so it was hard for me to follow the chapters and the progression of the story, overall I enjoyed the story but it was hard to follow while reading.  Summary: Today I watched more presentations.  Reflection: Out of the books we are reading I think that it is important to have a variety of styles of books that we should read to broaden the things we are reading. This is important to understand what is going on in the world and how people are affected by it.
